Today Nate is 10 years old! Ten! I really can’t believe it!!

Delaney had as much fun as anyone. She was so excited to “help” Nate open his presents and then she’d show him what he got with such enthusiasm. It was really sweet!

Happy birthday Nate! We love you to the moon and back!

week-end review

Our Spring Break has come to an end. Here’s how we spent the last couple of days of our coveted week of vacation. First, the good:

Photo 63

The saw The Croods with Bri and Delaney. It was an excellent movie. Delaney laughed out loud the  entire time!

Photo 64

Jeremy’s parents took us out to dinner at Genghis Grill. Yum!! Delaney even used chop sticks!

Photo 65

Then, as though we weren’t full enough, we had a little fro yo at Orange Leaf. Double Yum!!

Photo 66

We had an old iPod touch that no one was using so we set it up for Delaney. She LOVES it! She calls it her phone. And not to worry, she has several educational apps on there, so she’s not rotting her brain!

WuShock

Our Saturday night ended with a HUGE Shocker victory over Gonzaga!!! WSU is going to the Sweet Sixteen! The perfect ending to an already great week!!

And now for the bad:

Our cat Jinx has disappeared. She’s an indoor cat that liked to escape to the great outdoors every chance she got. Apparently she got out and we didn’t realize it. And she hasn’t returned. So sad! But our friends and family might be a tiny bit relieved because they were not so fond of our sweet Jinx who had been nicknamed Psycho Kitty.

P.S. We woke up to about 5 inches of snow today! I love snow and am totally fine with hibernating on cold and snowy days! I just wish it would have come a day later and extended our break a teeny bit more!

the bread

My birthday was one week ago today. I guess next year I will have to update my sidebar because this is my last year to be thirty-something. 38 didn’t seem old to me. But for some reason, 39 does.

For my birthday, my amazing mom fixed a delicious dinner for us. Yummy pasta with chicken, salad, fresh fruit and The Bread. It’s a recipe from Pioneer Woman. You can get the recipe here. And trust me. You want the recipe!

I’ll share the basic recipe with you now though, in case you’re lazy like me and don’t want to click to another page to read about it. It’s just a loaf of Italian or French bread from the grocery store bakery and 2 sticks of butter. Real butter. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and spread one stick of softened butter (I soften it in the microwave for 15 seconds because I never plan far enough ahead to let it set at room temperature) on each side of the bread. Yes, you read that correctly. One stick per side. Put it on a baking sheet in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Then turn on the broiler until the bread is really browned, almost blackened in places. I knew mine was done when the smoke detector went off! No need for a dinner bell at this house!

Oh my goodness, that bread is to die for. Next time I’ll skip the pasta and salad and just have some bread. As long as it’s The Bread!!

more spring break fun

The weather for the rest of the week is looking pretty bleak, so we decided to take advantage of a somewhat decent weather day and go to the zoo. Along with every other family in the Greater Wichita area.

We went with some friends and had a great time. The kids wanted their picture taken with every animal statue in the zoo. I hope you will indulge me as I share a few. There are a few actual animal pictures mixed in as well.

We had to wait in a loooong line just to get into the zoo. At least we were all smiles and patient as we waited!

How sweet is that??

And since we rarely have evidence that we actually go anywhere together, I thought we needed a picture. Even with the bad hair day!

Spring Break is half over. That makes me sad. But only 39 more teaching days until summer! Now THAT makes me VERY happy!!!

We made it to Spring Break! This year has absolutely flown by!!

Yesterday, for a spur of the moment Girls’ Day Out, I took Delaney to see Disney on Ice. She had a ball!

student of the week

Photo 1

Nate was awarded Student of the Week in his classroom last week! His classmates are all on the front row. They were very proud of him. Nate’s doing great with communication and academics. It’s really quite amazing to see and hear about all he’s doing. He has had an awesome year in Third Grade!

12 years

Twelve years ago today I married an amazing man. I’m not going to get all mushy on you because that’s not how I roll. But I will say that think I’m the luckiest girl in the world!
